What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've lost your Nissan keyfob or stopped working. Before you panic or contact the dealer, go back and check where you last used it.
It's not difficult to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. It may seem daunting initially but you'll soon get ability to do it in no time.
Smart Keys
The key fob included with the Nissan is a crucial element of its sophisticated keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronic systems to unlock doors and begin the engine. It also comes with an attractive design, making it easy to carry in your pocket. Key fobs also come with convenience features such as the lockout protection feature that ensures you won't accidentally leave the vehicle with keys inside.
As opposed to earlier models of key fobs that required you to put the key in the ignition slot to gain access to your vehicle's onboard systems, smart keys function wirelessly. Nissan detects when you come close to your vehicle and activates the Intelligent Key's internal functions. This could mean opening and closing the doors, lowering or raising the tailgate, or even launching the engine.
Certain smart key models come with an unnoticed metal key to allow valet parking. Intelligent Key Fob
Nissan Intelligent Key Fobs allow you to open your car's doors and turn on the engine with pressing a button. It also allows you to activate an array of presets that will suit your preferences, like altering the mirrors or seat for maximum comfort. You can also control the music via your smartphone so you don't have to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fob have a built-in antenna that sends out the signal when you enter your vehicle or press one of its buttons. Once the vehicle receives the signal and the system is activated to unlock and lock doors, starting the engine, or opening the trunk. To test the fob out take a step back from your vehicle and click on the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sound then you have successfully programmed your Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries to operate. If yours has run out then our Parts Department can help you replace it swiftly and easily. To do this, first remove the key that is hidden from your key fob and open the compartment for its battery. Replace the battery with a brand new one after removing the old one. Make sure that the positive face of the new battery is facing in the same direction it did with the old one. Finally, close the battery compartment and return the key to its safe place inside the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start allows drivers to cool or heat their vehicles from outside as long as they are within the operating range. The ignition of the car can be activated by pressing a button on key fobs or a smartphone application. The remote start system can also trigger the climate control to allow the driver to choose their preferred temperature. Some systems have two-way communication that allows the driver see what is happening in their vehicle.
If the remote start function of your car isn't functioning, the most frequent reason is a low battery. The key fob is powered by batteries that are small and replaceable that lasts approximately two years before it's time to be replaced. It's an easy task, but you'll need to know the location of the hidden key on your Intelligent Key fob and how to access the battery compartment.
Flip your fob upside down, and then press the latch on the back of the keypad. Once the key pad is fully opened, remove the old battery and replace it with a brand new one, ensuring that it is of the same dimensions and configuration of the existing battery. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection prevents annoying lockouts due to impedance relay failure. A special module within the power control unit monitors the activity of the impedance relay, and shuts off the output. This option is available on vehicles with the Smart Key system, or by using the vehicle personalization menu.
Many serious accidents have happened because of a machine that was running when it should have been turned off for maintenance or repair. These accidents are often the result of stored energy that is not properly released. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) that ensures that machines remain off until an authorized person releases them, helps to prevent these incidents.
The LOTO system is made up of a variety of locks, tags, and other devices that are used to isolate, secure or shut off a machine from an electric source. All "affected", "authorized" and "qualified" personnel should be instructed in the use of lockout/tagout devices. These devices include but not restricted to chains, locks padlocks and wedges, adapter pins, and self-locking fasteners. Each device is uniquely identified and labeled, including the date and time that it was applied along with the name and title of the person who was authorized to use it and the reason for the lockout/tagout (repairs, maintenance and maintenance, etc.). It should be clear that these devices can't be removed until an entire LOTO procedure is followed.
